packaged with the internal field test of VMS V5.3. To report problems

The internal field test version V5.3 is available at all normal distribution
channels. This kit will upgrade on any V5.* (FT or SSB version) and will
install from standalone backup. The current release notes and installation
guide will be in the same directory as the kit.
To report problems with the software, use the V53-FT database which been set
up on TRIFID.
Once you have completed an installation or upgrade, please reply to
Note 246 in VAXWRK::VMS_FIELD_TESTS. Be sure to describe your system/cluster
configuration as well as the media used to perform the installation.

| The EFT of VMS V5.3 is due "real soon" (see the VAXWRK::VMS_FIELD_TESTS
conference). It would be very reasonable to assume that DECwindows EFT
will appear at the same time.

| 5.3 IFT refused to be installed on top of T5.2-1... Do I need to
install V5.2-1 first, or is there something else I can do?

| Now that V5.2-1 is available internally, upgrading to that first is
your best bet. It installs fast, usually 30 minutes or less. Most
of us that upgraded to X5.3 from T5.2-1 used completely unsupported
methods to do so. They worked, but should be a moot point now that
V5.2-1 is out.
