Hello, maybe someone can shed some light on the following problems: (placed in TERMINALS and DECWINDOWS notesfiles) * on a VT330 you can draw a pixel on the screen with the command V[[. This works fine. when you use this command on a DECwindows terminal, you see nothing (using in regis emulation). this is a problem because a customer has a software program, which can do previews of Tech files on the screen, which uses this V[[ command. therefor, on the DECwindow terminal in regis emulation, parts of the drawings/fonts disappear. * DECwindow terminal, in regis emulation, using condensed fonts: when you use the regis command t'....' to display text, all DEC terminal windows disappear with the following error: 'DECterm controller process stopped: access violation. Started DECterm controller' The GKS-IVP gives the same problem when you choose VT330 output + condensed fonts. Any information would be very helpfull! Clarie

1308.1 | Fixed in V2 | HANNAH::MESSENGER | Bob Messenger | Mon Aug 21 1989 11:48 | 12 |
Re: .0 I believe that both of these problems have been fixed in DECwindows V2. The first problem was reported in QAR 2379 in the DECWINDOWS-IFT database on TRIFID. I'm not sure if there is a QAR that specifically addresses the second problem, where ReGIS crashes when you've selected the condensed font, but it looks like a problem I fixed a few months ago. You should be able to get this to work by switching to the normal font and then back to the condensed font before displaying ReGIS. -- Bob

Bob, Thanks very much for the information. The workaround for problem 2, switch to normal font and then to condensed font, works okay. However, the customer finds it a bit cumbersome (both problems) and would like to know if there are patches available for these problems, as V5.2 is probably some months away... Clarie

Re: .2 I haven't made any patches to DECterm. I'll consider working on it when I have some free time... Things are still pretty busy. -- Bob |
