Hi, I just converted many GIF (Macintosh) files to DDIF yesterday but the only I can do is looking at them using DECimage in View or Interactive mode. I tried to load them using DECW$PAINT and it tells that only bitonal images are allowed. Do anyone know about a "simple to install" (since I've no privilege) product or hacking stuff allowing me to manipulate those images ? I've already seen RAGS that needs a standard VMSINSTAL phase but I'd prefer something that I can "$ RUN" only, if possible. Thxs for help, Olivier

1302.1 | Getting RAGS without using INSTAL | CLOSET::EROSS | Mon Aug 21 1989 11:03 | 18
You can get RAGS by hand by copying the following files to some dir. BUPKIS::dua0:[eross.rags.pub.files]ge*.dat BUPKIS::dua0:[eross.rags.pub.files]rags.exe Note: if you want to run it while in some other directory, other than where you've copied the stuff, define the following logical so RAGS can find its support files define rags$support_dir full_path_to_dir_containing_ge*.dat_files Though, if PAINT couldn't read in the DDIF images, RAGS probably won't be able to either. Might be worth a try though. george
1302.2 | There's a tool floating around called XGIF. Don't have a pointer though. | VAXWRK::NEEDLE | Money talks. Mine says "Good-Bye." | Mon Aug 21 1989 15:16 | 1 |

RAGS V5.1 installed OK and runs quite OK but no way for GIF files... |
