1218.0. "dxue dumps "No slashes?" what have I done?" by DLOACT::BEATTIE () Wed Aug 02 1989 12:22

I'm having a nuisance problem with dxue under UWS V2.1 (VAX).

Problem:
dxue window disappears when an application is closed [like
completing a "remove" from the (pop-up) menu]. On the terminal
	that dxue was started from:

	  No slashes?
	  Bus error (core dumped)

	when I try "dbx core"

	  dbx version 2.0 of 5/2/89 0:29.
	  Type 'help' for help.
dbx: fatal error: bad magic number 0xfe28

How I think I cause it:

I've created a new view called "Standard" with *everything* saved
(using the "save view" option from the control menu).
From view "Standard", I modified view "Startup" by using "Save as
Startup View" from the control menu (So "Startup" is a copy of
	"Standard").

So:
I've looked at the .ue_profile, and it seems reasonable.

	Any Ideas?

The bug you see is in the code that cleans up after an exited
subprocess. I haven't tried to locate the exact cause because
the bug doesn't appear in later versions of dxue.

    Re: .1

What?! You mean there is a newer version of dxue than what was just
released with UWS V2.1 (he said, picking jaw up off of the floor) ??

    Is it available somewhere?

Sorry. I'm talking about the stuff I'm submitting for UWS2.2.
Field-test kits are available. Check the last couple weeks of
this conference for a pointer.
