| First, V5.1-B is the supported version on the VAXstation 3100.
Second, upgrade to V5.1-1, there was a fix for the problem you
describe.

My Mistake. I did not mention that the VMS version is 5.1-1. (I thought it was
obvious since VaxStation 3100 is involved). Any way, the problem is still there
on current version and the DECwindows is 5.1 SDC !

| Thanks guys to your replies. Still I did not get definite answers:
- Is it a known bug on VMS 5.1-1 !!! (If yes how come it works fine
on some system?
- Will VMS 5.2 resolve the problem for sure?
- Does not the fact that the problem does not occur on another system
indicates that it cuold be a simple tuning probelm? (I yes what sould
I check?)

- Is it a known bug on VMS 5.1-1 !!! (If yes how come it works fine
on some system?
Yes it is a known bug that affects VMS V5.1 and V5.1-1 systems. The
nature of the bug (uninitialized variable) means that sometimes you
see the bug and sometimes you don't. You will almost always see it
if you capture the entire screen twice.
- Will VMS 5.2 resolve the problem for sure?
Yes. If it doesn't then there's another problem that you should QAR.
Note that the problem wasn't fixed in field test versions of V5.2, but
only in the SDC kit.
- Does not the fact that the problem does not occur on another system
indicates that it cuold be a simple tuning probelm? (I yes what sould
I check?)
It is not a tuning problem.
