Can I install V5.2 VMS on my VS-II (from disk-dua0) and answer no to
the DECwindows question, then upon completing the VMS V5.2 upgrade
o Reboot my VS-II
o Delete dua0:[000000]VMS052.*
o Copy over V2 DECwindows to dua0:dua0:[000000]
o and sucessfully complete the installation
Can this be done..?

I don't know about putting the kits on dua0, but I did it from
dua1. (answered 'no' to decwindows, then rebooted and installed
decwindows from dua1) The decwindows installation is done
from opa0: (a pain if you have to edit anything, like I did because
the power went out in the middle of the upgrade :^( )

RE: .0 You indicate doing an UPGRADE of 5.2. The DECwindows volume provided with the 5.2 release is NOT "installable" by itself. That is, you can NOT use VMSINSTAL to provide DECwindows. What you want to do is $ RUN SYS$UPDATE:DECW$TAILOR to provide the desired DECwindows functionality. You can have the DECwindows save sets on DUA0: if you need to. Note: The required DECwindows files were provided when you upgraded VMS. | |||||
