what is the current market status of MS/DOS graphic applications runnning on Decwindows terminals/workstations (PCs excluded)? Can i run an MS/dos program on my decwindows client/server couple? What third party products are there on the market? (i alreday know that you can open a VT3xx window and use MS/DOS servers by logicraft or Vserver.. What is X.DOS? Bruno

VAXpc is a 286 emulator which runs MS-DOS under VMS. Some, but not all applications will work. SEL or KP7 to add MOSAIC::VAXPC conference. | |||||

re: What is X.DOS I believe this is a product from Hunter Systems. At Motorola, where I used to work, it ran under UNIX to allow certain PC applications to be ported to that platform. The unique thing about it was that it didn't do emulation, but provided the ability to convert the application to a binary image that would execute directly under UNIX. What it provided was a key file - but only for a few of the most popular PC applications ; about 6 at the time. The advantage was performance. Bill |
