1155.0. "Capture pulldown menus." by YIPPEE::FIROUZIAN (One bug leads to another.) Fri Jul 21 1989 08:49

    Hi,
I'm trying to capture a portion of screen containing a
a pullright menu in a pulldown menu, which is on a menu bar.
It looks for ex like a topline menu in DECwrite.
The menu are activated when the mouse button is pressed,
and when you release it, the menu cascade is erased.
To capture the portion containing the PullRight menu, I tried this
    way:
o Active Capture Portion Of Screen in the PRINT SCREEN MENU of the
      session manager,
o Go in the window containing the portion of screen to capture and
click on the menu bar to display the PullDown menu and 'drag' the
pointer until the PullRight menu appears.
o *WITHOUT* releasing the leftmost mouse button, I leave the menu
cascade *VERY FASTLY*. The result is that my menu cascade is still
active, but my pointer is outside the window.
o Keeping the mouse clicked, I do a Carriage Return to activate the
      capture of the screen.
o The clock appears and the machine is 'frozen', and need to be
rebooted (no capture file is generated).

I gess the events inside DECwindows are confused!

My question is: how can I capture such situations?

        I hope it's clear...
Thanks in advance for any idea. Patrick.
