1153.0. "Will this work?" by PHOBOS::WICKERT (Dave. Use SICVAX::WICKERT) Fri Jul 21 1989 07:45
I am attempting to install ULTRIX V3.0 and UWS V2.0 on an old workstation.
The configuration is:
VS-I (upgraded by board swap to a VS-II w/9Mb)
VCB01 w/VR100 monitor (yup, not a VR260)
old serial mouse (not the corporate mouse)
RQDX3
RD54
I am having two problems. #1 is that the left hand border of the
screen is about 1/8 inch wrapping around. On VMS I set a SYSGEN
paramater TTY_DIALTYPE to be 0 to support the old VR100 monitor
(i.e. I have seen this problem before under VMS).
The second problem is more serious in that the system boots ok,
but when it is loading X it just stops ... i.e. hang city.
You can type on the keyboard and characters echo but the system
is hung.
We tried several configuration builds on the kernal -- all with
no luck.
Any workstation people have any ideas? Apparently this worked under
X10.
