1152.0. "BADSPEC ON DECW$C32X32.DECWFONT ON V5.1-1 UPGRADE" by COMICS::FARROW_SMITH () Fri Jul 21 1989 05:36
Hi Folks,
I've a customer who is running VMS v5.1 and has taken the option to install
DECWINDOWS, however, without the DEVICE SUPPORT OPTION. A problem arose when he
came to upgrade to v5.1-1. Fix 29 applies miscellaneous fixes to DECWINDOWS
(seven fixes in all), the forth of these fixes is to DECW$C32X32.DEC W$FONT
this is part of the DEVICE SUPPORT OPTION it failed with :
VMSINSTAL-E-BADSPEC , file specification DECW$C32X32.DECW$FONT
cannot be parsed
The real problem was that the remaining patches were not applied. On looking
at the DECW$GBINSTAL.VUG, in the saveset VMS02051.C, it was found that if an
error occurred it would just drop out the procedure rather than applying the
next fix.
Is this the intended behaviour?
