1126.0. "Methodology for Interface tools?" by TENERE::GARCIA () Tue Jul 18 1989 06:05
May be it's the wrong place for such a question. May be it has
already be discussed, but a DIR/TITLE="Method" has no output.
In the DECForms Notesfile, the 278 topic is about the choice
of a Methodology to design systems using DECForms (screens, menus...).
This seems to be a non-trivial problem...
I wonder which methodology has been used by the DECwindows development
team, and which one is currently used by Application Developers.
OK, DFD's "seems to be" the party line, but did anyone try an Object
Oriented Method (obviously yes) ? Has someone tried to compare various
methodologies for this kind of problem ?
Any input welcome.
Gilles.

| Design methodology used to develop DECwindows software?? You've got to be
kidding.
I know of no products in either operating system engineering or SDT that have
been developed using formal methodology techniques. We're still using
early 1970s development technology in this company. Not that it's any better
anywhere else. You have to go to a DP shop to find formal methodologies in use.
