1076.0. "HELP! Session Manager is not reading SM_GENERAL.DAT HELP! Session Manager is not reading SM_GENERAL." by ADEPT::BURR (Deryl Burr DTN:226-7605 phone:(617)486-7605 Mail:LKG1-1/M06) Fri Jul 07 1989 16:11

I can not get the session manager to read DECW$SM_GENERAL.DAT. I have it located
in SYS$LOGIN:. I have tried deleting all versions of the file then using the
customize to select first the system defaults which, I saved. I then changed
the things I wanted to change, Saved those, then tried use last saved settings.

NO GO!

The other noticeable thing is that if I use the security "feature", the change
does not even show up between times that I just get in and out of the security
window.

At this point I have gotten rid of my DECW$login and made sure that the only
DECW$USER_DEFAULTS logical is the system wide SYS$LOGIN.

A very frustrated VWS user attempting to convert.
Deryl

PS. Our Cluster is an MIVC running V5.1 (SDC) and we did install the new
VWS which allows decwindows to run under it.

This is what I get.

DECW$SM_GENERAL.DAT;2
                     [CC_36W,BURR]         (RWED,RWED,RE,)
          (IDENTIFIER=[CC_36W,PRX_BURR],ACCESS=READ+EXECUTE) (!FOR DFS)

1076.3Is this a color system?LAS057::LUND"35mm...."Mon Jul 10 1989 14:1310
	Is this a color system? I had a similar problem a while ago. I was
	using more colors than the system could handle, defined in the various
	application .DAT files. This caused the
	session manager to not read it's .DAT files. Somewhere in this
	conference are the notes that discuss it, but I don't remember
	exactly what topic numbers.

1076.4Don't think so ADEPT::BURRDeryl Burr DTN:226-7605 phone:(617)486-7605 Mail:LKG1-1/M06Mon Jul 10 1989 16:566
While my system is a color GPX I did not select any additonal colors or
even touch the color.dat file. So what I have is what came with it. Thanks
though.

1076.5Much better now!!!ADEPT::BURRDeryl Burr DTN:226-7605 phone:(617)486-7605 Mail:LKG1-1/M06Fri Jul 21 1989 16:017
Well my system manager upgraded the cluster to VMS V5.2 and I rebuilt my
decw$sm* files and now it works (YEA!!!)

Thanks for all the help trying to get it to work.
