1070.0. "DECWindows V2 -- "Widget vs. Intrinsics"?" by MOVIES::GROSSMITH (Mike - VMS Devo/Europe) Thu Jul 06 1989 10:51

Since installing DEC V2 IFT1, I've been getting many messages like this...

	X Toolkit Warning: Widget class DECterm version mismatch:
 	 widget 7001 vs. intrinsics 11003

..when I invoke applications like DECwindows EVE, LSE, Notes and the like.

The application runs OK, these messages and the windows that come along with
them are just a pane! (sorry).

So, what does it exactly mean, and is it something I should worry about; ie BUG.

1070.1V2 Intrinsics are based on X.V11R3MIPSBX::thomasThe Code WarriorThu Jul 06 1989 11:093
Whereas V1 was based on X.V11R2. The version mismatch is telling you that
you are running R2 widget with the R3 intrinsics.

    .1 is right, but that doesn't mean you should be getting this message.
    Who ever wrote the offending widget may have been better of using
    XtVersionDontCheck, if that's what is causing the message.

    All of EVE, DECwindows LSE, Notes, etc. use TPU's DECwindows support
    and it has a DECterm widget linked into it. Looks like the linked-in
    DECterm widget -- which certainly was R2 -- is complaining about the R3
    intrinsics.

    Don't ask me why... I just know where the message is coming from!

1070.4It's the same on JONTOM and his satellites.JONTOM::SYSTEMThu Jul 06 1989 16:177
Hi,

we have the same thing on our demo cluster. Although it's not a real problem,
it's a bit irritating. Is there any workaround/way to suppress it?

	I just got a new variant of that error which possibly offers
	some insights. Look into 1053.*.

Re: .3

Yes, I think it's my bug.
