1066.0. "Problems running more than 3 applications under VUE" by GIBSON::DICKENS (What are you pretending not to know ?) Wed Jul 05 1989 16:14

I have a bunch of workstations, all running V5.1-1, that display a strange
problem. You can't start more than 2 or 3 applications from within Vue.
If you try to start the 4th one, it dies, with the following message:

X Toolkit Error: Can't Open display
	%DWT-F-DWTABORT, xtoolkit fatal error

It can't be a UAF quota problem, since I have the same quotas on my system
and I don't see this problem. Any idea where to look next ?

Also, on at least one of these systems, after you've got a certain number of
applications going, trying to create a terminal window from the session manager
will result in the session manager dying

    It may be global pages.

1066.2Sounds like the one we hadSEWANE::MASSEYI left my heart in Software Services.Thu Jul 06 1989 14:539
We had almost exactly the same problem here, and the culprit was gblpages.
The funny thing was, DECwindows wouldn't catch it during startup, but it would
complain when we did a @DECW$STARTUP RESTART. And nobody could figure out how
gblpages got set so low in the first place.

AUTOGEN with FEEDBACK fixed it nicely.

Yes, an AUTOGEN did fix it after the system had been up for a while.
