And they have some problems with the DECterm since they don't know the
fonts specificly build for the DECterm. Other than that one gotcha and the
need for lots of memory, everthing seems to work.
The server that I saw was written by Whitepine software. I'm have to get
their address if you'r interested.

984.3 | Apple is doing one, according to Usenet | GR8FUL::HERBERT | Blue sun? Who changed my colormap? | Tue Jun 20 1989 15:01 | 7 |
| I read something in comp.windows.x saying that Apple is planning on releasing
their own X server by the end of the year. They are going to call it MacX.
I didn't save the posting, so I can't give any more details, but you might
want to contact Apple and ask them.

I've been using White Pine's eXodus since field test late last year. I
can get DECterm, DECwindows or HP Window Manager, FileVue, and
Bookreader up at the same time. I've even been able to get Flight
working on it, but the small screen size makes it useless.
From what I've heard, Apple is writing an X-Server for A/UX only. But
I could be wrong...

Re: .4
The thing mentioned in comp.windows.x said that the Apple X server would run
under Finder/Multifinder, *not* A/UX.

That's "FLIGHT", Pratish. Let's keep those names straight. You can
design an instrument layout and viewport arrangement customized to the
small window. To shrink the instruments down, you'd have to get into
some more complicated customization.

Well sorry John. My mistake. I should have known it is FLIGHT and not Flight.

All uppercase words need not be acronyms. It's not Flight because
"flight" used in the first word of a sentence becomes "Flight" which
can cause confusion. It can also come to be confused with MicroSoft's
Flight Simulator - which it was for a while because of the name case.
Anyway, it's no longer just a word in a book. It's cast in concrete.

| I really hate to digress...
But, I keep hearing about the font problem of DECwindows on the
MAC. I am looking at possibly "reviewing" both MACx and eXodus (I
still say it's a hair care product, but what the hey?).
In particular, I am looking towards trying to run DECwrite on the
thing. Anyone with experience care to comment on the trials and
tribulations I may encounter in this?
Comments about my sanity are acceptable as well, but they must be
original, on a 3 x 5 card, and post marked no later than... Uh never
mind that last, I think I've been working too hard.
