We're having a problem with input focus in VAX DATATRIEVE. The problem is that when the user exits from DATATRIEVE, input focus is not returned to the window from which DATATRIEVE was invoked. The result is that no window has input focus until the user clicks on a window. Isn't this supposed to be handled automatically by the DECwindows Manager? If so, could we be doing something inside of DATATRIEVE that would prevent input focus from being managed properly after image exit?

DATATRIEVE isn't doing anything wrong. I've seen this in lots of other applications as well. That's just the way it is with the DECwindows window manager. To be fair, focus management is a very difficult problem, and returning focus to the terminal emulator from which DATATRIEVE was invoked is not always the right thing to do. --PSW |
