943.0. "DECwTermPort" by BAHTAT::WILLIAMSH () Wed Jun 14 1989 09:41

In note 727.1 the routine DECwTermPort is mentioned as a solution
for positioning DECterm windows. I cannot find any reference of
this routine in the documentation so I need some help.

Our customer has an application which basically is a set of programs
outputting to terminal windows. They want to be able to set the
position of these windows at login. From previous notes, I gather the
solution would be to include the DECwTermPort routine in the programs
and to spawn the programs from within their LOGIN.COM
The solution is needed quite urgently so I first need to gain some idea
of the complexity of the task.
Also, I'm not a DECwindows programmer so explicit help will be appreciated.

See the notes files DW_EXAMPLES and DECTERM (ELKTRA::DW_EXAMPLES,
HANNAH::DECW$DISK:[PUBLIC]DECTERM). There is a program called "CHILD"
which may fit your needs, although I don't know about releasing
it to customers. I have a program which creates DECTerm windows
using DECwTermPort as well, but I haven't had a chance to upload
it. Send me mail if you need more information about it.

DECwTermPort is described in the VMS release notes. The description in the
VMS V5.1-1 release notes gives more information and includes an example; you
can also find this in note 289.1 in HANNAH::DECW$DISK:[PUBLIC]DECTERM.NOTE
(KP7 to select).

CHILD is for internal use only and can't be given to customers.
