It stands for the Hewlett-Packard Window Manager. Cute, eh? See notes 338.*.

934.2help with status code, no logical name matchROCHE::CLARKETue Jun 13 1989 11:2214

    I have written a appliaction to create a DECwindows DECterm using
    DECwTermPort. I do a set display to my local workstation, run the
    appliaction and everything works fine. The problems start then
    I try to create the DECterm on a remote workstation. I set display
    to the remote workstation, run the appliaction and I get the error
    "DECwTermPort failed with a status code of 444". I do a exit 444
    and it get "%system-f-nolognam, no logical name match". I assume the
    logical name it is looking for is decw$display but why can't it find it?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Larry

934.3You need a DECterm controller for the remote nodeHANNAH::MESSENGERBob MessengerTue Jun 13 1989 11:3615
Re: .0

Not a very helpful error message, I'm afraid. The logical name it was looking
for was DECW$DECTERM_MAILBOX_node::0.0, where "node" is the name of the
remote node. What you need to do is to start a DECterm controller whose
output is directed to the remote node, e.g.:

	$ set display/create/node=XXX
	$ spawn/nowait/input=nl: run sys$system:decw$terminal

For a more complete description, see note 289.1 in
HANNAH::DECW$DISK[PUBLIC]DECTERM.NOTE (KP7 to select).

RE: .2, What does that have to do with HPWM?

RE: .3, Doesn't your reply pertain to .2 and not .0?

No one will ever be able to find the information you folks just put here
by doing a dir/title=. In fact, .0 could have been eliminated entirely
if the appropriate note entitled "osf motif...." had included the string
"hpwm" somewhere.

Sorry to sound like a pain in the ***, but it is hard enough to follow
the goings-on in this conferece without having noise like this thread thrown
in.

934.5Don't forget keywords DECWIN::FISHERBurns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23Tue Jun 13 1989 13:035
Turns out that there is already a keyword for HPWM pointing to the right place.
However, I also added it to the title of 338.

    I'll admit that it must be an honest mistake. Happens all the
    time... typing REPLY instead of WRITE.

    But if anyone wants to form a lynching party, you can count me in
