A newletter is a good idea, but seems very exclusive.

I find the Sales Update and Competetive Information Services delivered
through VTX very helpful. I bet a lot of the questions and information
overload found in the DECwindows notes conferences could have been
avoided by delivering well-edited reports via VTX.

Many people, especially Sales Support, do not have the time to wade
through all the notes files scattered about the corporation.

Maybe it is not to late for this type of facility? It does not have to
be a massive undertaking. Maybe three or four pages listing status
reports on upcoming releases, pointers to notesfiles and other
documents, a top-ten list of most frequently asked questions, etc. Its
foucus would be to summarize the most important points and give
direction on how to obtain greater detail.

It would need to be updated regularly and consistently, and it would
have to have DECwindows engineering or corporate (Who is in charge
anyway?) backing to give the information credence ( as opposed the
    heresay often found in notesfiles).

| | There are a couple of different VMS newsletters: one from mktg and one from
prod mgmt. The newsletters referenced were the ones from System Software
Marketing and you can get on the distribution list for each of them by
sending mail to:
ULTRIX (base system and UWS) SSGBPM::ULTRIX
VMS (worksystems/DECwindows)               SSGBPM::VMS_DECWIN
The System Software group also has an excellent VTX database that
is called System Software Marketing Infobase, that is available from the
Corporate VTX Library page. It is updated almost daily, so meets the
requirements of -.1.
