834.1 | Clarification for VMS - from VMS Product Management | STAR::STEEVES | Go Mondo Balto! | Wed May 24 1989 11:07 | 31 |
|
1] Is DECWindows doc supplied with the VMS 5.1 doc kit? Specifically,
does the documentation come in hardcopy or assume that the bookreader
will be used?
The VMS DECw USERs kit is supplied w/ 5.1 - hardcopy.
(online books must be purchased separately on CD - ALTHOUGH the bookREADER
is provided free w/ DECwindows.)
2] What is the situation with Ultrix. Specifically, the bookreader
is not yet availble under Ultrix?
The bookreader is NOT yet available under Ultrix
3] There appears to be two sets of DECWindows documentation, one
tailored for end-user the other for software developers. If the
DECWindows doc is supplied with VMS, I assume that the programmers
documentation is ordered seperately.
This is true - the users kit is provided with VMS - the programming kit is
ordered separately. (the assumption is that the majority of DW audience is
user-level not programmers.)
4] How does question 3 apply to Ultrix?
Not sure. Thought it was the same but have recently heard differing rumors.

| This isn't an official answer or anything, but when I got my Ultrix doc set, it
contained both the user-level and programmer-level docs.

If so, where would I find the part numbers for ordering?
Thanks very much.
