| There are various notes in this conference and especially in the
DW_EXAMPLES conference about games and amusements and such. Some that I know
exist are:
xphoon - displays a picture of the moon in the screen
background
xfish - fish swimming around in a window; options to display
in the screen background or session pause window
kaleid - kaleidoscope patterns (great on color systems)
chess - chess game
othello - othello game
solitaire - plays canfield solitaire card game
xconq - "conquest" war game (similar to EMPIRE, but has
multi-player option); excellent on color systems
yadman - yet another Mandelbrot program
VMS Mandelbrot - multi-node Mandelbrot program (VMS only)
spacewar - mentioned in a previous note
There are a bunch of others floating around. Check the notes conferences.

Besides tha fact that the FLIGHT simulator is an internal use only
piece of software, it is available for DECwindows which is also
interal use only. There is an entire notesfile dedicated to it.
I believe it is QUEEN::FLIGHT.

| Right. FLIGHT is an application intended only for internal use at DEC.
Customers should not obtain copies. Feel free to show it to customers
in a demonstration environment, however.
RE: .0
Do you happen to know how a customer obtained a copy of VWS FLIGHT?

There was an othello game that I copied to and made
available from ZFC::, but it doesn't run anymore
(linked against an incompatible earlier release).
If anyone has a working version please let me know.

I don't know how he got the flight simulator. As far as I was aware
he got it with his VAXstation and I assumed that it was supplied
with VWS. (my mistake). I suppose it would be in all interests to
inform him that the flight simulator doesn't run under DECwindows
and won't and let it rest at that.

Don't tell him it doesn't run on DECwindows. We showed the Flight
simulator at DECUS running under DECwindows. You'd only embarrass
yourself if you told him that it didn't run. Just tell him that
it's not available to customers at this time and if he makes a
stink, then as DECwindows product management to see about getting
Flight made available.

Not being careful, we've probably had people make copies at DECUS, and
I'm sure there is the occasional person in the field who has allowed
somebody to get it.
The VWS group isn't too upset about it, and it's prime author (John)
has agreed to allow us to ship a version at a later date on the DEMO
disk and when a certain engineer has time it will probably show up
in a limited variant (without the compilers, etc).
I think it'd be a neat idea if someone made the DECwindows version
available...

| Since no one actually mentions how to get a copy of this very
interesting game I have a request. The Naval Air Station at Miramar,
California ("Top Gun") has an upcomming air show at which we are
planning a mini trade show showing some of our desktop platforms.
We are looking for applications to help draw and hold a crowd.
This sounds like the ticket. Can some one reply here or send me
mail as to how I can get a copy for this demo.
