801.0. "DECwindows conform to ANSI X3H3.6" by 58488::BROOME (Reid Broome, Customer Support) Thu May 18 1989 13:23

    I am responding to an RFP, and the must answer the following request:

    	"It is essential that the operating system provide an X-windows
    	 (ANSI X3H3.6) user interface."

    Does DECwindows conform to ANSI X3H3.6? If not, how do I answer
    this?

801.1There is no formal ANSI standard yet...XUI::VANNOYJake VanNoyThu May 18 1989 19:0110
ANSI X3H3.6 is the group working on X11 protocol, Xlib and XtIntrinsics. They
are only currently working on the protocol. They are not past the draft
standard stage even with the protocol.

So, yes, we conform to it as much as anyone.

There is a FIPS proposal out which ignores the fact that the standard isn't
accepted yet, and the FIPS includes the protocol, Xlib, and intrinics.
