787.0. "DECw remembers db, even after it's been flushed" by 15608::HSU () Tue May 16 1989 16:09
I'm working on an application which uses CGI, a GKS based graphics
package, to display graphics and uses DECwindows for the rest of
the the interface. I had a problem where when creating an object
the graphics would get wiped out because the dialog box to get
information about the object wouldn't go away until all the
graphics were drawn. This was because DECwindows buffers events
for performance, which delayed the unmanaging of the dialog box
even though in the code the call occurred before the graphical drawing.
So, to solve this I called XFlush to flush the event buffer and
make the dialog box go away before the graphics were drawn. This
works with one exception. The dialog box goes away, and you can
see the graphics draw, but for some reason the graphics under the
area the dialog box USE to be gets wiped out when the graphics are
done drawing. This is very curious, can someone tell me what's
really going on?
I'm using GKS device 213 (I think) running on SDC DECwindows with
VMS V5.1

p.s. would have put note in DECWINDOWS_PROGRAMMING, but I can't
reach the notes file for some reason. Also cross-posted in GKSNOTES.
