Is there an easy way (running under the standard window manager -- I know about some of the stuff in the others) to work out the geometry and/or positioning of a window. Specifically, I'd love to be able to determine the appropriate geometry statement for my icon box after I've resized and moved it so that I don't have to do it ever again. I'd also like to be able to work out the X and Y coordinates for a DECterm window so I can reproduce the position with child. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Before discovering HPWM, I used one of the mouse locators (see DW_EXAMPLES) and did arithmetic with the upper left/bottom right coordinates. Of course, UWM and HPWM give you this capability for free...

Before I switched to UWM, I simply did a trial and error of the geometry resource. Suggest you ditch the standard WM. Then you don't even need an icon box!
