761.0. "DECWINDOWS SUPPORTS LCG01??" by WILKIE::TSENG () Wed May 10 1989 16:55

    We have a customer's question, does DECwindows/Xwindows support
    LCG01 color printers? The LCG01 supports ReGIS, color sixel, GIDIS
    and NAPLPS graphics protocols.  Thanks,

761.1Color sixel is a problem.AVIATE::SHAHLDP Technical Consulting GroupWed May 10 1989 18:195
As far as I know, currently DECwindows doesn't support color printing. To get
color printing on my LJ250, I've had to use UTOX. For more information on
UTOX, look at the UTOX notesfiles on node CLT.

761.2DO WE PLAN TO SUPPORT?4024::TSENGThu May 11 1989 16:5120
    Thank you for the information, the reason I asked was that after
    I received the call from the customer, I did some test on our LCG01.

    I used screen dump to a sixel file, then printed it to LCG01. I
    got a all-black output. Then I looked the sixel file and deleted
    some blank lines from the second line and printed it out to LCG01
    again. This time, I got a small graphs on the lower left corner.
    (of course the balck and white)

    I also tried the DCL IMAGE RENDER command. I used screen dump to
    DDIF first, then rendered it to sixel with the qualifier of
    DEVICE=LN03, since the LCG01 is not supported. Well, I got a
    multiple pages output.

    I thought the LCG01 might not be supported currently, but do we
    have any plan to support it in the very near future? Thank you
    again,

    I think you can get color output from the RAGS graphics editor. See the
    VAXUUM::DOC_GRAPHICS notesfile for details.
