As I understand your question, you would like to have some
windowing applications start automatically as a result of
starting your session. One way of doing this is to create
a file in your home directory called .X11Startup (yes, this
name is case-sensitive). The file would contain various commands,
one per line, such as
/usr/bin/dxclock
/usr/bin/dxcalendar
etc.
In order to properly start these applications, it is important
to read the documentation so that you will understand command line
syntax and entries for your .Xdefaults file. The ULTRIX
Workstation Software product comes with extensive well-written
documentation, of which Worksystem User Volumes 1 and 2 are of
immediate interest to the user. If you have licensed ULTRIX
software (you are licensed, aren't you? If you don't know,
it is important to the well-being of Digital that you make sure...),
then you or someone who obtained the software on your behalf
should have documentation. It is available from SDC.
