730.0. "Large decw$sm.log file problem" by CVG::CAMPANELLA (Michael Campanella, DTN 261-2595) Thu May 04 1989 11:59

    Anyone ever seen this before? I've seen it with several versions of
    DECWINDOWS/VMS. It can be somewhat of a nuisance... I seen files from
    3000 to 80000 blocks at times. I think this one stopped since I was
    overdrawn on my disk quota...

730.1Looks like a bug...ATSE::DAVIDSONThu May 04 1989 16:4010
re: .0

I saw this when I had a bug in my DECW$LOGIN.COM. Check both your
SYS$MANAGER:DECW$SYLOGIN.COM and SYS$LOGIN:DECW$LOGIN.COM files. Also this
could be cause from a program that was spawned from the session manager process
and generates LOTS of errors.

730.2just seems strange to me...CVG::CAMPANELLAMichael Campanella, DTN 261-2595Thu May 04 1989 17:156
    Perhaps it has to do with errors, as every once in a while, my
    autofocus program goes south, it could be anything really... but you'd
    think there would be data in the log file, not just allocated space?

	Either "$ DUMP/RECORD" on it or do a "$ SET FILE/END" and then type it
out... You'll see the data in it then...

        I get a similar problem, my decw$sm.log goes into hyperspace
        adding errors like it's going out of fashion. ANy ideas, anyone?
