729.0. "lock light goes out?" by POBOX::MAMMEN () Thu May 04 1989 11:38
A VAXSTATION II user, running Ultrix, was complaining to me about
various "problems" he's had with DECwindows. In one of them he claims
to have had key lock (all CAPS) on, changed input focus to another
window - with lock remaining on but the keyboard lock light going
out. Uppercase did some terrible thing to him, of course...
I haven't seen it happen, but I don't have a similar hardware
configuration, nor do I run Ultrix very often. Anybody seen anything
like this?
Thanks,
Dave

729.1 | Haven't seen that one

| I've been running DECwindows on a VSII/GPX (recently
upgraded to a hotter CPU) and Ultrix since FT2 days.
I've never seen that problem. The case-lock light and the
case-lock state track exactly. Neither is effected by
anything done to or in a window, short of restarting the
server or OS.

| I have seen this many times, it seems to happen mostly with Mail
(VMS DECwindows MAIL running on my ULTRIX machine). This is mainly
annoying if you then pause the session and can't figure out why
the password check fails. It just happens occasionally (maybe once
a day) and I never tried to track it down any futher, but I do see
it happen.
