I've noticed a file called X0msgs in /usr/adm. It appears to be some sort of log file presumably created by the server. Can anyone elaborate on the origin and purpose of this file. Is it possible to turn off logging to it, and would this provide any performance improvement?? Is there anyplace this file is documented??

I have been told that the file is used by engineering to debug the server. However, It has also been used by the support people to determine if there is a problem or not. I know of no way to disable logging to this file, but have seen a request for this before - it can eat up a lot of disk space. In the mean time, cat /dev/null to this file periodically. How about it, can we turn it off (or get this into a next release)?? Beth Griffin CSSE ULTRIX UWS | |||||
