662.0. "Need help with a ghostly picture" by VINO::LLAVIN () Mon Apr 24 1989 14:51

		I have a VS2000 system that was been down-graded from a
color system to a monochrome system. None of the color memory boards were
removed or anything/ we just put a vt260 in place of a vt290. We used the
same cable and connected the green lead to the back of the terminal. The
screen we now get is ghosty and blurry. I have been told how to fix it
for VWS but need to know how to fix it for DECwindows to get rid of the
ghosts and shadows. Tried to customize the screen colors but that didn't
seem to help...

	any ideas

	help!!!

in sys$specific:[sysmgr]DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM put the following line:

	$ DECW$COLOR == "FALSE"

That should fix it

You must create it.

There should be a decw$private_server_setup.template that you can use to create
it.

662.6I needed terminators alsoRWCVAX::COULSONRoger Coulson DTN 223-6158Tue Apr 25 1989 10:4312
    RE:.0 and others

    I found I had to put terminators on the RED and BLUE cables to get the
    ghosts to go away completely. I didn't have any 75 ohm terminators so
    I used some 50 ohm ThinWire terminators. I had set up the grayscale
    command (DECW$COLOR == "FALSE") and the Session Customization came
    up correctly with Grayscales but it appears that the terminators are
    needed to eliminate reflections on the cable.
