Please excuse my ignorance of TCP/IP before I begin. If I am not using
the correct terminology, let me know.
I am working with a customer who is running Multinet TCP/IP on a
MicroVAX II, running VMS V5.1. He has been running this product
successfully with VMS versions up to and including V5.1, and in
conjunction with the VWS workstation software. Since installing
DECwindows, when he tries to start up his TCP/IP, he gets "socket
error 0".
Is DECwindows using a socket it shouldn't? This customer believes we
are violating some previously-agreed-upon rules. Any comments?
Thanks,
Tom

The DECwindows he has cannot be using TCP/IP and cannot have any
knowledge of IP sockets. He's simply done something unfortunate like
start his IP software before DECnet.

To the best of my knowledge, the current rev (SDC) of DW (VMS) does
NOT know from TCP/IP, but rather only uses decnet and/or shared
memory transport mechanisms. This changes in V2 of DW, yes?

re .2: It should be in V2. It's made it through Phase 0 and it's
coming down the stretch.
