Note 344.0 Invalid scanline stride, is ddif really ddif? No replies

I am trying to import a gray scale ddif image into DECwrite version
FT2. The imaged was obtained by converting a Data Translation dumb
pixel file into a ddif format using the converter utility supplied
by Bill Muth in note 262.18 (IMAGING NOTES FILE). I then do a SET/FILE
/SEMANTICS=ddif on the file as supplied by Gary Mason in note 338 to
insure it is of the proper format.
When envoke DECwrite, I initialize using the example style. At that
point I link to an image file which seem to work OK. When DECwrite
asks me to click on MB1 to import the file I get the following
message:
%IMG-F-INVSCNSTR, invalid scanline stride, less than pixels per
scanline%
Do grayscale images get along with DECwrite???
Any ideas????
