521.0. "System hangs..." by FESTER::SPIVAK () Sat Apr 01 1989 14:09
Our two node CI cluster just became a MIV Cluster with a new
satellite - a VS3200 with 8Meg of memory + a local RD54.
The installation went without a glitch, and the DECWindows
came up with no problems.
The problem came up after I tried to do some work on the new satillite.
I found that after opening a few (2 or 3) windows, and trying to run
various applications, the system gets hung. Well maybe not exacly hung,
it seems to be running but so slow that is has to be rebooted
eventually. I found that an easy way of recreating this problem is to
have two window open, with MONITOR running in one of them.
I have tried AUTOGENning with a feedback option, but without success.
Are there some insufficient user account parameters that might be
causing this problem? Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks in advance,
M.S.

521.1 | No page file? | STAR::BMATTHEWS | | Sat Apr 01 1989 16:45 | 5 |
| Make sure you have enough page file for the new satelitte. You might not
have any page file and since the operator window messages are off by
default you won't get a message. Boot min and do a sho memory.
