510.0. "Device control module not loaded by Setup option" by CSC32::T_NORWOOD () Thu Mar 30 1989 16:12
I am posting this here and in the PRINT-WIDGET notes file, because
I'm not sure if the problem is really with the print widget.
I talked to a customer today who is trying to print from DECwindows
Mail. He goes into the Options window to choose some advanced print
settings. He puts a device control library module name in the "Setup"
line. When he prints the mail message, the device control module is
not copied to the printer as it should be.
To prove this, he can choose the "Hold print job" option on this
window, then look at the queue entry from DCL. The entry should have a
/SETUP=(xxx) qualifier on it, but it doesn't. Other qualifiers, like
/PRIORITY, are successfully changed, but the /SETUP doesn't seem to
work.
I tried to reproduce this, and did. I also found the same behavior on
the "Print Screen" option. Even if we specified a device control
library other than SYSDEVCTL, the module was not loaded.
Looks like a bug to me, but I want to be sure I'm not missing something
obvious before I submit this as a bug. Anyone seen this?
This is a VMS system, V5.1, by the way.
Thanks,
Tom

510.4 | Problem not fixed... | PEACHS::MITCHAM | Andy in Alpharetta (near Atlanta) | Tue May 22 1990 17:01 | 9 |
| I've a customer with this same problem. When trying to use SETUP from the
print widget OPTIONS menu, the print never takes place. It doesn't appear to
even be queued. The temporary file never gets deleted. He can do the same
just fine from DCL. The customer is running VMS v5.3 (DECwindows v2.0).
We've recreated the problem here using VMS v5.3-1.
Should this be SPR'd again?
