495.0. "getting rid of VWS files" by SNODOG::CHENETZ () Tue Mar 28 1989 17:33

    I searched through this notes file but I could not find the answer
            so.. Is there a list of VWS files that can be deleted when
        you go from VWS to DECWINDOWS. I would like to make some space
        on my system disk. Since I do not use VWS any more, I would like
        to delete any unnecessary files.

            Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

    sorry for the brief reply earlier, yes, the *VWS*.*.* too - that'll get
    rid of the fonts, too...

495.5Is this an OOPS?FRAGLE::WIEGLEBScore: Flag 1 - America 0Wed Jul 19 1989 15:199
    Since getting rid of these files, I am getting a message at reboot:
    "File: SYS$LIBRARY:VAXGFX$UIS_DEV_HANDLER.EXE not found".

    Have I gotten rid of something I shouldn't have - or if not, what do I
    need to edit to get rid of this message? Thanks.

    SYS$LIBRARY:VAXGFX$UIS_DEV_HANDLER.EXE is not a VWS (UIS) file !
    I don't know where it comes from, but my guess is GKS.

    It would seem that the answer is yes.

    I've checked into it and it is indeed GKS. Now the big question
    becomes whether GKS is worse off not having the .EXE or not having
    VWS.

    The GKS (V4.0) startup command procedure searches for each of the files
    before attempting to install it. So, what I receieved was a message,
    but not necessarily an error. I'll have to check with the GKS folks on
    this. (I only installed GKS in order to install the CDA converter
    library.)

    Thanks.
