477.0. "Remote Sessions with V1.0?" by OIWS20::BRYSON () Fri Mar 24 1989 18:57

    Does Version 1.0 of DECwindows official support remote sessions? I
    know that it works by SET DISPLAY to node X and then performing a
    DECW$STARTLOGIN.EXE (only the server is running on the destination
    node). The question is do we really support this with v1.0?

    Sorry Andy, but No.

    We support remote clients, but we don't support the session manager
    running remotely. It sort of works, but there are holes in it.

Thanks!

    Does DECwindows V2.0 under VMS 5.3 support a remote session manager
    running on an X-server?

    Running the session manager remotely is not officially supported,
    at least on VMS. As far as we know it works. One limitation is that
    the customization of the Operator Window keys is no-op'ed when
    running remotely.
