How about some details?
In the first case, how far did the application get? If nowhere, is the
client authorized on the pmax server?
Second case: Does the window appear? Did you xflush when the drawing
was finished? Are you running remote or local? etc., etc.

dies in XtInitialize , Yes authorize set up

the window apears and other objects which are drawn directly into it
show up. Just the areas copied dont.. Same result running local or
remote. Again this problem is only when built and run on Pmax. runs ok
on VMS. No I didnt do a flush

If it gives up in XtInitialize, I'd still suspect authorization first.
Add an XFlush call after you've finished all your copy area requests
and see if anything happens.

| Since your PVAX is running V5.1-TB0, do you happen to be running the
DECwindows FT kit that came with it? That may be something. Upgrade your PVAX
to the sdc kit of VMS and DECwindows (V5.1-B and DECW051)
