457.0. "Software Development Job Opportunities!" by BAGELS::HARROW (Jeff - The Network *IS* the System!) Wed Mar 22 1989 13:35

"Will YOU boldly go where Digital has not gone before?"

        > Do you, PERSONALLY, want to directly "make a
difference" in Digital's ability to cost and
        time-effectively isolate network faults?

        > Are YOU interested in the challenges of working
on a small, highly focused, cutting-edge software
        development project?

        > Are YOU interested in pushing (and creating)
        the State-of-the-Art in DECwindows applications?

        > Are YOU interested in creating today's
        State-of-the-Art in Digital's network fault
        isolation capabilities?

The "FarStar Development Team" is tightly focused on porting an
operational Macintosh network fault isolation prototype
("MacManage") to the DECwindows environment and will be working
with the latest in VAXstation and Macintosh II hardware and
software. The project is funded, the goals and schedule are
clearly defined, and we're looking for the few excellent men and
women who will turn this vision into reality!

If you're highly motivated, a "self-starter" with (or wanting) a
keen sense of excitement in your work, have the appropriate
experience and drive, and can work well with a small team of
highly skilled software professionals dedicated to a specific
goal, then the FarStar Development Team may be your gateway to
designing the way Digital software tools will look and feel in
the 90s!

As detailed in the job descriptions and experience requirements
sections of the Personnel Requisitions reproduced below, the team
needs an experienced Technical Leader/engineer, an engineer
dedicated to implementing the user interface, and an engineer to
implement internal database and communications capabilities.
Additionally, all members of the team will be assisting each
other and helping on common aspects of the project such as a
video "User's Guide."

If these ideas get your creative juices flowing, then please
contact me immediately for additional information and to schedule
an exploratory interview (please do not reply to this
VAXconference as I may not see your response):

and then developing the overall design
        specification for its implementation.

o Developing a detailed project schedule, with
milestones, and assuring that the schedule is
        met.

o Providing such administrative support as is
required to meet the project goals, such as

to provide an audit trail of the development
        effort.

o Assuring that all team members' work is backed
up on a daily basis, and personally assuring that

        implementing appropriate resolutions where
        necessary.

o Providing technical consulting to the other

As moderator, I don't think that this is an appropriate use for this
conference. I believe there are conferences that are for job seekers,
as well as the jobs book, personal networking, etc. If everyone who
had an opening posted a note here we would be in sad shape.

I'm not the sort who likes censoring, so I'm not going to delete this
note, but please don't take it as precedent.
