Does anyone know when X-windows will be support on the Apple MAC SE? How much memory will they need to run this? The system will have 1 Meg of memory and a 20 MB hard disk. We are in a very competitive situation at a large university for a deal worth over 1300 workstations and are looking for some knock off on the Apple proposal. The customer is requiring is X11 release 3, word processing, spreadsheet and a simple database. We think they are looking at Ashton-Tates framework. We are recommending Andrew. Apple is recommending a SE running the MAC operating system and pushing X-windows as a future. We would like to know if and when this will be available

White Pine Software has an X server for the Mac - I believe it's called eXodus and was recently announced in the Mac trade press. I don't have the details you ask for, but they shouldn't be too hard to find. We're recommending Andrew? | |||||

Part of the Apple future would have to include more memory. I can not imagine that they would be able to do much with X with just 1MB. |
