341.0. "Auto Repeat Key Problem with WPS-PLUS" by MAGIC::BURETTA () Tue Mar 07 1989 15:50

It has been reported by several people who are using DECwindows
on their workstations and utilizing WPS-PLUS and/or ALL-IN-1/WPS-PLUS
that they are experiencing auto repeat key problems. The user
will be typing the text of a memo when the characters will run
across the screen unexpectedly. It seems to be an intermittent
problem since I have the above on my system yet do not have this
problem but have been shown the problem on others.

In the past, there was an intermittent problem with key strokes
getting lost while using WPS-PLUS and a logical of
    System UIS$VT_LOCK_USER_FEATURES_TRUE corrected the problem.

I have tried a number of terminal settings in attempt to recreate
the auto key problem without success. Please note that WPS-PLUS
turns auto repeat on and off where applicable.

Has anyone else seen this problem and/or have any suggestions as
    to how to correct it?

To date I have received several calls from upset internal WPS-PLUS
users who have unfortunately chosen to resolve the problem by
    removing DECwindows from their workstations.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Check out note 150.* in THIS conference.

I had the problem, and this solution worked for me.

You should redirect angry callers to the WPS-PLUS developers, who are the
culprit. (Applications aren't allowed to do this thing...)

Sorry Paul, I am in the WPS-PLUS Support Group and we are not a
"culprit". Someone in the ZKO DECWindows group has been very helpful
and informed us how to correct the problem.
