We've recently upgraded our LAVC to VMS and DECW V5.1. With the upgrade has come a new problem. My workstation is a 4-plane GPX. Whenever I switch from a DECterm window to the session manager window my colors all change. If I'm in a DECterm window then my Window forground and background are correct and all other colors are incorrect. If I'm in the session manager window then the screen, border, and highlight colors are correct but my DECterm colors are incorrect. I know this problem is due to only having four planes of color. I would hope, however, that DECwindows could support the four plane systems in a more robust manner. Any hope of a fix for this?

Have you customized DECwindows to use different colors than the defaults in you DECW$*.DAT? I think I also read that DECterm uses 16 color slots in the colormap when working with REGIS. What you are seeing is the window manager loading a different colormap since you only have 16 color cells in your colormaps. However, I would have thought that DECterm would only allocate these color cells if a REGIS sequence was received rather than pre-allocating them at the beginning. David | |||||

I checked and I was sending REGIS escape sequences to change the color of my terminals. I removed these and it works fine. I'll stay away from REGIS colors from now on. Thanks! |
