| There have been discussions in previous notes on the VS3100 versions.
But a quick hint, you need V5.1-B and DECW051 to run. One catch,
V5.1-B isn't in SDC yet. (Very shortly though). Since you V5.0T3b2,
you can update to V5.1-TB0 with the kits on VMSKIT::PVAX$PUBLIC:[FT3].
And you can run the DECW051 kit, however, there may be a problem with
TPU in a native DECwindows window, which runs fine through DECterm.

| How long after SDC V5.1 will come the release of V5.1-B? And is it on
the net now? What does the MUP in VMSKIT::PVAX$PUBLIC:[FT3U]?

| The mup you describe adds tape support to the VS3100.
As far as SDC dates, sometime before the begining of March.

Hi Jeff
Thank you for the quick answer.
But, but I can't find V5.1-TB0...
$ d vmskit::pvax$public:[ft3]
%DIRECT-E-OPENIN, error opening VMSKIT::PVAX$PUBLIC:[FT3]*.*;* as input
-RMS-E-DNF, directory not found
-SYSTEM-W-NOSUCHFILE, no such file
$ d vmskit::pvax$public:[000000]
%DIRECT-E-OPENIN, error opening VMSKIT::PVAX$PUBLIC:[000000]*.*;* as input
-RMS-E-DNF, directory not found
-SYSTEM-W-NOSUCHFILE, no such file
Is there another place for V5.1-TB0 ?
Thank you

| VMSKIT had lost its disks this past week or so, so it is in the process
of getting restored. You'll have to wait.
We may have the SDC kit up next week sometime.

231.6 | needing VMS V5.1-B, maybe? | SAYER::ELMORE | Steve - DTN 422-7372 | Sun Feb 19 1989 14:27 | 16 |
| Two questions:
1) May I be absolutely certain that "VMS V5.1-B" is the proper version
to install on a large, CI-based, mixed-interconnect cluster, serving
as the boot node to several different VAXes including VS3100s?
To rephrase, the VMS operating system that must be installed on
the boot node in a mixed-interconnect cluster must be "VMS V5.1-B"?
2) Does anyone know where it will first be revealed that VMS V5.1-B
(or an internal identical substitute) will be available.
I have a customer who has been shipped several VS3100s for his
engineering staff. They can make them work using field test versions
of VMS but don't want to risk installing FT versions on their
production (large) cluster that will be serving the VS3100s.

| It is almost soup. Stayed tuned. (your right, V5.1-B is the proper
LHR).
