160.0. "DECwindows not working with DFS" by BREAKR::UDICK (See ya in the NOTES files) Wed Feb 08 1989 14:57

What is the status of DECwindows working with DFS (Digital File
    Service).

From a terminal session under DECwindows I can:

$ dir brk_dir:[000000]*.* ! Brk_dir is my access point to the
                                  Server.

When I go into FileView and specify the same Dircctory I get a Warning
    message:

"The Default directory is not a valid VMS directory specification.
    There is an unrecognized character".

    What am I doing wrong.

    Thanks,

    Steve

What does brk_dir translate to? Have you tried using that in place of
    the "brk_dir" string?

The error message that you're getting is from specifying the
directory wrong in FileView's "Directory" SText widget. The
error message is a FileView message, not a DFS (*Distributed*
	File Services) one.

	Try "brk_dir:[000000]". That should work.
