| 114.1 | Sixels on DECterm | UBEAUT::LUK | Roger Luk, SWS Australia | Thu Feb 02 1989 21:43 | 8 |

    Sixel images can be displayed in a DECterm window, which is
    VT3xx compatible. Just TYPE out the sixel file.
    I'm not sure about GKS, but v4.0 supports DECwindows (I think)...

| 114.2 | sixel and GKS on created window | CADSE::NOTT |  | Fri Feb 03 1989 08:45 | 12 |
| | I know that sixel images can be displayed on a DECterm, what i am
    looking for is to convert to sixel protocol to the bitmap, so that
    it can be displayed on a window i create in my application and not
    the DECterm itself, which is used by the application for a different
    purpose like text etc.

    I would like some leads on displaying sixel & GKS metafile on the
    a window created and not on a DECterm.

| 114.3 | Try VAXimage App Services | VIA::BAZEMORE | Barbara b. | Fri Feb 03 1989 15:39 | 5 |
| | You can use VAXimage Application Services (VAS, previously VIS,
    ISL) to convert a sixel image to an X bitmap then throw it up in
    a window. Check out the Image_Services conference on node Edwin.
    (KP7 and all that)

| | VAS will go bitmap => sixel, but not sixel => bitmap. In the scheme of
    things, sixel data is considered "final form", so cannot be "imported"
    for image processing.

    Why not ask the DECterm people? I have code that does it for UIS
    in MACRO, but they should have a earlier "C" version modified for
    DECwindows.
