DECwindows is a vast subject and is based on a technology which is unfamiliar to many in the field. To gain a complete pictures requires reading through many documents. During the course of raising the awareness of DECwindows in the Region I work in, I have written a number of articles to provide some background information. HADRON::DECW:[LR.ARTICLE.] DECW_MGRSUM_ARTICLE - Is a very broad overview (7 pages) with little technical content (Suitable for managers who do not to spend too long reading about it...) DECW_MGR_ARTICLE - Is a more in depth overview and describes DECwindows at a superficial level (Suitable for those who don't want to know about the more technical aspects of DECwindows) DECW_TECH_ARTICLE - This as the same material as above but goes into more technical detail (suitable for SWS specialists etc.) Much of the technical content of the later document was kindly provided by John Parodi who was involved in writing the DECwindows architecture overview. These documents are not intended to replace in anyway the excellent documents that are available on DECwindows, they are offered to those in the field who may want to help their colleagues or managers get upto speed. Some of the material within these documents is not for customer consumption so they are all... *** COMPANY CONFIDENTIAL ***

I have stripped out the company confidential components of the DECW_MGRSUM_ARTICLE and called it DECW_CUST_ARTICLE which should be OK to give to customers... For those interested in the planning of DECwindows within the field there is an implications document which might be useful, its in HADRON""::DECW:[LR.DOCS]DECW_IMPLICATIONS I have been asked if the sources of these documents can be made available so that local issue can be added/changed. I have put these in [.SDML] sub directories. Hope this helps | |||||

My node (ZFC) and ANCHOR both think HADRON is at 41.296, so try 42280:: instead of HADRON:: Dan |
