My question is similar to the last but with some twists. Say a person has on an ms-dos pc decwindows running. Say they are running word perfect in one window. They would like to cut and paste from other applications in other windows (text) using the same keys that word perfect uses to do cut and paste. I believe this can be done from the standpoint of the applications themselves. (ie. written into the application code) But can it be done from the decwindows level? or through some kind of keyboard remapping if they are running the applications from decterm (terminal emulation)?

If they are running wordperfect in one window, then that window is a DECterm, and the wordperfect running is wordperfect for vms. When DECwindows-extended-for-MSDOS is running on a PC, it is the only PC application running. See mosaic::pcdecwindows for details. Cut and paste works between DECterm and other applications to the extent that the various applications have decided to implement it. -fjp |
