| That's a question for the DECnet/SNA Gateway people, not the DECwindows
people. We don't talk about future product plans in public, but on the
hand a reader of SMAUG::SNAGWY.NOTE could reasonably infer a thing or
two about what we're up to (press SELECT, etc).
The product manager is Michelle McGregor, DELNI::MCGREGOR.

| We have used a company named SYSTEMS STRATEGIES out of New York
City to provide SNA terminal emulation for Ultrix. Its a software
+ vax line card solution (no I don't know the price) so it *SHOULD*
be cheaper than using Spectragraphix (sp?).
I have the address as:

We'd much rather you sell SNA software produced by DEC. We *have*
a 3278 character-cell terminal emulator which runs on Ultrix and
which uses one of the DECnet/SNA gateways for the IBM connection.
We're working on graphics and colour now.
In particular, selling the gateway solution sells DEC networking.
A third-party line-card-in-the-back-of-a-VAX doesn't help networking
one bit.
Yes, I admit there are cases when you might have to sell the third
party offering, in particular if you can't wait for ours -- but
let's not be too hasty, huh?
Further discussion of this is welcome in SMAUG::SNAGWY.NOTE; it isn't
particularly relevant in this file now we've veered away from the
DECwindows thread.
