Is there a simple way to change the process name of the SYSTEM process that owns the Session Manager? The problem is, the to the novice System Manager, when a "sho use" is done, it appears that there are 2 SYSTEM processes logged in, when actually the first one is the Session Manager! It would be much clearer if the Session Manager process name was simply "Session Manager" to avoid confusion. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response! There was not a decw$login.com file, so we simply created one in sys$common:[sysmgr] and put in the line "set proc/name="Session Manager"" Works great! | |||||

To enlarge on the following replies: The session manager is started up when you login (via the username/password dialogue box). The name of the process follows the usual LOGINOUT rules for process naming: set process name equal to username, and if that fails, then the process name is left equal to the device name (_WSAn). Just as normal interactive processes execute commands from the user's SYS$LOGIN:LOGIN.COM, the session manager executes commands from SYS$LOGIN:DECW$LOGIN.COM. |
