| The next few topics are reserved for various things, including
placeholders for other things I have not thought of. Note that I
am not guaranteeing to maintain the directory listings, though.
Feel free to suggest uses for the reserved topics in topic 10.

1.2 | SEEN MAP calibration | DECWIN::FISHER | Burns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23 | Thu Jan 26 1989 12:21 | 6 |
| BTW, you may have to say something like SET SEEN/BEFORE=26-JAN to get
your seen map recalibrated to this new conference.

1.3 | DECwindows_old is here | DECWIN::FISHER | Burns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23 | Mon Feb 06 1989 17:00 | 9 |
| THe original incarnation of this conference is now available as
BULOVA::DECWINDOWS_OLD. The backup from which this conference was done
was on 30-NOV-88. Everything after this date was irretrievably lost.
The system folks here have the appropriate hardware for backing up
BULOVA on order. When I found out more, I will let you know.

1.4 | Thanks to our official conference retrievers... | DECWIN::FISHER | Burns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23 | Wed Feb 15 1989 13:51 | 13 |
| Thanks to Andy Hagel, who extracted the old DECwindows notefile (with
permission) for an experiment in context-based retrieval just before
its demise, and Andy Leslie, who had tools and patience to put a
conference back together from extracts, we now have a nearly complete
version of the DECWINDOWS_OLD conference, with everything up to
sometime in January.
It has now replaced the partially-backed-up DECWINDOWS_OLD conference
on BULOVA. Thanks again to Andy and Andy.

1.5 | How many times can a conference get reborn? | LESLIE::LESLIE | Andy  Leslie | Tue Oct 31 1989 04:01 | 17 |
|
The latest DECWINDOWS conference corruptions have been fixed. With
Peter (VANISH::) Bailey's help, I've replaced the old, corrupt
conference with a new 'un.
Unfortunately a side-effect of the rebuilding was to lose all keywords.
Keyword creation isn't restricted on this conference, so go ahead and
add *RELEVANT* *MEANINGFUL* Keywords if you wish.
Another side-effect is that hidden notes are now empty. Ah well.
Otherwise, all should now be okay.
Thanks Peter!

1.6 | Keywords back | LESLIE::LESLIE | Andy  Leslie | Sat Nov 04 1989 18:00 | 10 |
| More thanks due to Peter Bailey...
From: VANISH::BAILEY "Eight or... ..." 4-NOV-1989 22:52:12.98
To: LESLIE::LESLIE
I've copied all the keywords (and notes pointed to by same)
from the old corrupt conf to the new one.....
So the new word state should be the same now as before the
rebuild

1.7 | Another "what it is not for" | DECWIN::FISHER | Burns Fisher 381-1466, ZKO3-4/W23 | Tue Nov 14 1989 11:25 | 16 |
| I guess we have to add another "what it is not" to the list in 1.0.
"It is not" a forum for requesting support for customer visits.
This kind of thing should go through the product manager.
The moderators have been wrestling with requests for help within
the company (i.e. job solicitations). My personal feeling is that job
solicitations are verboten. There is a job conference for that
purpose. Now as to more short term requests which might fall under the
All Hands on DEC banner in the US, we have been a bit more lenient, but
only because we don't know what the correct channel is to recommend to
you. If anyone knows, please feel free to mail me the answer, and I
will post it here.
Thanks for your cooperation.

1.8 | datestamps fixed with PAN, hit kp7 etc for details | LESLIE::LESLIE | Unicorn | Sun Feb 25 1990 16:03 | 8 |
|
The UNSEEN maps of many noters were disrupted because of a date problem
with notes written on 10-Jan, they were datestamped 1991.
I've now manually corrected this, all looks okay, let me know if you
see problems.
