54.0. "A Public Notice..." by ATLANT::SCHMIDT (See http://atlant2.zko.dec.com/) Wed Apr 23 1997 09:56

To whom it may concern:

  Please do not try to mail to me using my Microsoft Exchange
  address. The current implementation of Exchange here at DIG-
  ITAL does not work reliably and I *WILL NOT BE HELD RESPON-
  SIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENCES* arising from mail that you send
  to me that I am unable to read in a timely fashion.

  I will continue reading mail at my long-standing and very
  reliable VMSmail addresses. In general, I'm also able to
  read attachments that you include although I would certainly
  discourage you from using Microsoft Word attachments just
  to tell me something you could have said as well in a
  paragraph of ordinary text.

  My VMSmail addresses remain:

    [email protected]   or   ATLANT::SCHMIDT
    [email protected]    or   ATLANT::ATLANT

  I can also be reached outside the corporation at:

    [email protected]

                                 Sincerely,
                                   Atlant G. Schmidt

 I reluctantly reach this conclusion based on both my personal
  experiences, reliable anecdotal evidence from my friends and
  colleagues, and corporate memos announcing prolonged and wide-
  spread Exchange outages.

  A special PS to the still-anonymous person in Harry Copperman's
  office who felt (several months ago) that it was necessary to
  police my use of VAXnotes:

  Yes, I know this note is written during business hours. Feel
  free to once again run to my VP (Bill Armitage) and complain;
  I've copied this note to my entire management chain including
  my supervisor, my manager, Bill Armitage, Tom Vacchiano, Harry
  Copperman, and Bob Palmer. They'll have already read this note,
  at least so long as we assume *THEIR* mail is working.
